An individual who laced candy with tranquilliser and provided them to minors at a summer program in Leicestershire has pleaded guilty to sexual crimes against two boys both between nine and ten.
The accused was detained after eight youngsters and an older person fell ill at Stathern Lodge in mid-summer.
The senior citizen, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, admitted guilt to a multiple criminal counts when he stood at the judicial center on the end of the week.
However, he refused to admit a single sexual charge he was accused of, which was involving a nine-year-old boy.
The accused was kept in jail ahead of a subsequent court date on 28 November.
'Sweet game'
The legal representative, prosecuting, outlined the defendant's actions to the legal proceedings.
She explained his those affected were under-privileged children who were participating in a summer camp which he operated.
The man conducted a "treat game" with the children, the prosecutor said, in which he would enter the sleeping quarters when they were preparing to sleep and request they to ingest treats "as fast as possible".
She stated to the judge the man had engaged in this activity with the young males "for many years", and minors had previously fallen ill the subsequent day.
She said the defendant had been capable of justifying this over a long period as the minors being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepson had concerns in summer 2025.
The prosecutor added: "In the summer" his stepchild had suspicions about the situation, with valid cause.
"They decided to examine in the individual's items."
The prosecutor stated objects including lubricant, Vaseline and syringes were located, and his family member contacted the police about his suspicions.
She said the defendant went on to engage in the "treat game" with six youngsters that time - that Saturday - and they were all sick the next day.
"Authorities" had not gone out by that point," she continued.
The oversight body, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, previously told that it was reviewing the police response of the events.
Mrs Prior said the minors were having difficulty walking due to being ill, so Ruben's stepson called the law enforcement a second time.
She explained the man then played the "candy game" in a space of five minors.
